On Thursday, March 11, 2010 three Qassam rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel. One of the rockets hit and destroyed a building on Kibbutz Nirim, in the Eshkol region south of Sderot, the other two rockets were fired in the evening hitting in open areas near the Gaza border. The Al Qaeda terrorist group Ansar al-Sunnah claimed responsibility for the rocket that destroyed the building on Kibbutz Nirim.
During this third ceasefire between Israel and the Gaza Strip, since January 18th the end of Operation Cast Lead, 319 rockets and mortars have been fired into Israel. Most recently Saturday evening around 8pm another Qassam rocket striking an open area in the Eshkol region south of Sderot.
