A rocket fired from the Gaza Strip landed in an open area near the southern town of Sderot, the Israeli army said late Monday night.
No injuries were reported in the attack, and none of the various terror organizations in the Gaza Strip claimed responsibility.
According to initial reports, no alarm sirens warning of rocket attacks were sounded, suggesting the rocket detection system installed around Gaza estimated that the rocket would land far from populated areas.
The attack came three days after Gaza based terror groups fired four rockets at southern Israel late Friday and early Saturday, breaking what had been over a month of tense calm.
All four rockets landed in open areas outside Sderot. There were no injuries or damage.
Following the weekend attacks, Israeli warplanes struck two Hamas military sites. Two children were killed by shrapnel from the explosions, according to Hamas.
