March 8: On Sunday morning four Gaza rockets slammed into the western Negev, hitting the Eshkol region and Sdot Negev area. No damages or injuries were reported.
Israeli Air Force have responded to recent rocket and mortar shell fire by conducting air raids on Gaza smuggling tunnels and rocket squads. On Saturday morning, Palestinians claimed that an Islamic Jihad member of a rocket squad was killed in an IAF air strike near Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza. Three rockets were fired at the western Negev on Saturday, while another two rockets were fired at Ashkelon.
In all, nine Palestinian rockets were fired at Israeli civilian areas during the weekend.
On Thursday night, March 5, a Qassam rocket slammed into an open field south of Ashkelon. An Iranian-supplied Grad rocket struck Netivot, landing near a synagogue earlier on Thursday evening. No casualties or damages were reported.
The Tzeva Adom rocket alert siren blared twice in Sderot on Thursday, with one Qassam rocket slamming into an open area in Sderot. In the morning, a Palestinian mortar shell struck in open fields near a western Negev kibbutz.
Gaza rocket fire against Israeli civilians has been fairly consistent in March. In the past week, Palestinian terror networks have fired twenty-six Gaza rockets, including Qassams, mortar shells, and Grads at southern Israel (March 1-March 8).
On Wednesday, March 4, Iranian military chief, Mohammad Ali Jafari, declared that Iranian missiles can reach Israeli nuclear sites. Ha’aretz reported the commander-in-chief of the Revolutionary Guards, saying saying “All the nuclear facilities in diferent parts of the land under the occupation of the Zionist regime are in the reach of Iran’s missile defenses.”
