April 4, 2008: Members of the Canada-Israel Committee were targeted by Palestinian sniper fire while on a solidarity mission with Sderot residents at a hilltop observation point overlooking the Gaza Strip. The Canadians were being briefed by Israeli Security Minister Avi Dichter, when the fire began. The minister’s bureau chief, Matti Gil was wounded in the attack. April 9, 2008: Two Israeli civilians were shot dead and two others were wounded Wednesday afternoon when four Palestinian terrorists infiltrated from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel. The attack took place at the filling depot, close to the Karni border terminal, near Kibbutz Nahal Oz. The filling depot provides most of the fuel to residents of Gaza. The victims were identified as Be’er Sheva residents Oleg Lipson, 37, and Lev Cherniak, 53. (Haaretz. com)

April 16, 2008: Wednesday night saw the city’s residents awake to the sound of the Tzeva Adom alert near 3:30 am: “I woke up to the sound of two distant blasts,” Haim Geva, of Sderot, said. Throughout the day, 30 Qassam rockets were launched at Sderot and the western Negev. (YnetNews. com, MFA)

April 17, 2008: Ten rockets were fired Thursday from Gaza at southern Israel. Four of the rockets landed within Eshkol Regional Council limits, three fell in the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council and one landed south of the town of Netivot, which is scarcely targeted by the Palestinians. April 18, 2008: Throughout Friday, 16 Qassam rockets were fired towards Israel from the Gaza Strip. One hit a power line in Sderot, causing an electricity blackout. Another landed in the yard of a house in Sderot where two women suffered shock. Another Qassam exploded near a school. (Haaretz. com, MFA)

April 19, 2008: Three explosive-laden vehicles, approached the Kerem Shalom central crossing through which approximately 200 humanitarian aid trucks enter per week, bringing supplies from Egypt to Gaza. The terrorists triggered the explosives in two jeeps, wounding 13 Israeli soldiers, and fired a barrage of 15 mortar shells at the area.

April 25, 2008: Two Israeli civilians, Shimon Mizrah and Eli Wasserman, security guards were killed in the shooting attack at the Nitzanei Shalom industrial area, near Tulkarm. Hamas, Islamic Jihad and Fatah’s Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades all claimed responsibility for the attack. (Jerusalem Post)

According to an IDF spokesman, a total of 518 rockets and mortars, (145 Qassams and 373 mortars) were launched at Sderot and the Western Negev from northern Gaza during the month of April.
