At least one rocket was fired from Gaza into Israel Tuesday morning, landing in an open area in the Eshkol region.

There were no reports of injuries or damage.

The region, which borders the southern Gaza Strip and Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula, has been a frequent target of rocket fire from Gaza.

Israel and Gaza are marking this week the one-year anniversary since Operation Pillar of Defense, an eight-day offensive launched to stem rocket fire.

Last week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu touted a 98 percent drop in rocket fire since the operation.

“There is no doubt that significant deterrence has been achieved,” Netanyahu said, adding that there had only been 35 incidents of rocket fire since the operation ended.
